From today, the Google app will not run on old Android phones
From today, some of Google’s popular apps will not work on many older Android smartphones. It includes a number of features, including Maps, Gmail and YouTube. Smartphone users will not be able to login to these apps.
Google said in a statement that as part of the ongoing process to keep users safe, devices with Android 2.3.8 or earlier will not be allowed to sign in from September 26, 2021.If you want to sign-in to your device after September 28th, your username or password may be incorrect when using Google products such as Gmail, YouTube and Maps.
Google’s service will not work on those smartphones: Sony Xperia Advance, Lenovo K600, Sony Xperia Go, Vodafone Smart 2, Samsung Galaxy S2, Sony Xperia P, LG Spectrum and Sony Xperia S. LG Prada 3.0, HTC Velocity, HTC Evo Forge, Motorola Fire and Motorola XT 532 smartphones will also have this problem.
Google has suggested an update to at least Android 3.0 to avoid this problem on smartphones. However, it must be updated to the next version.
