Under 4 Conditions, Huroob Expats Can Rectify Their Status Without Sponsor

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) revealed four conditions in which expatriates with “runaway” or “absent from work” status (Huroob) can rectify their status without their employers’ permission.

The deputy minister for Labor Affairs, Abdul Majeed Al-Rashoodi, was quote in the local media as saying that the cancellation process could only be carry out once a number of conditions were meet.

The huroob status can canceled if any of the following conditions are meet:

  1. If the status of the employer’s business or establishment is list as “non-existent.”
  2. If the facility’s status is “under process” and the employer hasn’t started another file for the facility within 30 days of placing the file.
  3. In the event, that the establishment is in the red zone and has not committed to recording contracts for at least 75% of its staff.
  4. If the business is in the red zone and hasn’t committed to protecting 80% of its workers’ wages.
