Public transportation will be allowed only for ‘immune’ people who have completed taking 2 doses of the covid-19 vaccines, said Saleh Al-Zuwaid, spokesman of the Saudi Transport General Authority (TGA).

He made this announcement at the press conference held by the Health Ministry here on Sunday, while adding that there are more than 750,000 daily users of transportation services in Saudi Arabia.

These include transportation between cities, school buses, taxis, applications transportation services, trains and ferries.

The spokesman added that the capacity of buses, ferries, and economy class on trains is up to 50%.

The spokesman said that last September, the Ministry of Transport carried out more than 90,000 periodic inspection tours, and detected 145 violations of precautionary and preventive measures.

On his side, Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdali, official spokesman of the Ministry of Health, confirmed that 6 billion and 400 million doses have been administered in the world, which is a positive step to combat and contain the epidemic.

New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia jumped above the 50-mark for the first day on Sunday after staying below the figure for five days, with 59 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.
