Saudi Arabia announces 11 days Eid Holidays
Government Employees
The HR Ministry has announced 11 days Eid-ul-Adha holidays for all employees working in the public sector this year in Saudi Arabia.
- Last working day before Eid Holidays: Thursday, June 22, 2023.
- The first day of Eid Holidays: Friday, June 23, 2023.
- The last day of the Eid Holidays: Monday, July 03, 2023.
- First working day after Eid Holidays: Tuesday, July 04, 2023.
When we say all employees, it includes those expatriate employees working on the government sector payroll. However, this announcement does not apply to a few sectors, such as;
- Health Sector.
- Armed forces, including the police.
- Banking sector.
- Subcontracted Employees.
Private Sector Employees
According to Article 112 of Saudi Labor Law and Article 4 of the ministry’s bylaw for holidays, the minimum number of Eid Al-Adha holidays is 4, usually starting from the 9th of Dhul Hijjah (weekends excluded).
- Last working day before Eid Holidays: Monday, June 26, 2023.
- The first day of the Eid Holidays: Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
- Employees with one weekend will enjoy 5 Eid Holidays.
- Employees with two weekend days will enjoy 6 Eid Holidays.

Banking Sector Holidays
The employees working in the banking sector will also enjoy 11 days Eid-ul-Adha holidays this year.
- Last working day before Eid Holidays: Thursday, June 22, 2023.
- The first day of Eid Holidays: Friday, June 23, 2023.
- The last day of the Eid Holidays: Monday, July 03, 2023.
- First working day after Eid Holidays: Tuesday, July 04, 2023.
Weekend Rules
If there is a weekend during those days, the employer must extend the Eid Holidays by the days of the weekend. Let’s say if there is a two days weekend within this period, you are entitled to get Eid vacation until July 02, 2023.
