Eid Al-Fitr 2022: Saudi Arabia Say Eid is Likely on May 2

Rabat – Eid Al-Fitr 2022 will be on May 2 in Bahrain, the International Astronomy Center announced on April 20.

The Astronomy center added Bahrain is one of several Arab countries that is expected to view the crescent on Sunday, May 1. This means that Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid Al-Fitr on May 2.

It is too early to spot the crescent that signals the passing of a month in the Muslim Hijri lunar calendar. Therefore, Saudi’s officials haven’t announced a concrete day for Eid Al-Fitr.

The International Astronomy Center also added that the countries that celebrated the beginning of Ramadan on Saturday, April 2, are scheduled to view the crescent on April 30. However, due to the cloudy skies on April 30, these countries will see the crescent on May 1.

Eid Al-Fitr festivities in Saudi Arabia will take place from May 2.

The Holy month of Ramadan is the 9th month in the Hijri lunar calendar.

Ramadan lasts for 30 days and is followed by Shawal. The first day of Shawal is celebrated as Eid Al-Fitr.

Eid Al-Fitr is the first of the two official religious holidays celebrated in the Islamic world. Muslims start Eid Al-Fitr by performing Eid prayers in the morning.
